Barry Sparkman’s abstract painting and prints reflect an intense interest in and respect for nature in all of its forms. He has shown his artwork extensively, including twenty-three solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions.
A native of Tennessee, Barry has a B.F.A. in Painting from Middle Tennessee State University, a M.F.A. in Painting and Drawing from Louisiana State University, a M.F.A. in Printmaking from the University of Miami. He is currently enrolled in a graduate program in Museum Studies at Arizona State University.
In addition to his studio work, he previously held a variety of positions with museums and galleries including the Art Museum of Florida International University and the Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami. He also taught art at Florida International University in Miami and Clarion University of Pennsylvania, among others. Barry is presently the Traveling Exhibit Coordinator for the i.d.e.a. Museum.
